Baby Quilts; Amelia Alice Green 12th February 2010
I think this quilt possibly took the longest to make of all the baby quilts so far. Probably because I went slightly nuts with much smaller blocks and and ended up with a larger quilt overall. I learnt my lesson however as you can see in later SMALLER quilts. I love the pattern and I think the pinks and purples go really well together. The baby giraffes and elephants are just too cute.
The moment I realised that I had perhaps made the quilt too large was trying to fit the backing - some delicious felty dark purple....slightly too small! I managed to improvise however and the middle piece is the remainder of the fabric from the front.
Quilting as always pretty simple style along the borders of the squares, this quilt is really cuddly.
I have tons and tons of the border fabric, inherited from my paternal grandma Gladys. Apart from incorporating it into a scrap quilt I've been making for the last decade.....really should finish that now....I havent found much use for the fabric but here I think the bright flowers work really well.
